WESTLAKE, Ohio — Dash cam footage has been released of the Ohio police pursuit that ended with the suspect crashing violently into a bar.
Fox 8 reports the October 23 incident began after 26-year-old Brandon Pawlak stole a pickup truck from a golf course.
Officers attempted to stop Pawlak, who was driving the stolen truck at speeds of around 75 mph, according to the Associated Press. Officers began to pursue Pawlak after he refused to stop.
After dodging traffic at high speeds, Pawlak drove over police stop sticks and lost control of the vehicle. Over a dozen people were injured after Pawlak crashed the pickup through a tavern. 11 were transported to hospitals and others were treated on the scene.
Pawlak pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of fleeing police, breaking and entering, theft, receiving stolen property and felonious assault, driving under suspension, possession of criminal tools and reckless operation, the Chronicle-Telegram reported. Pawlak has not held a valid driver’s license since 2004.
Another man, 26-year-old Matthew Sowden, a suspected accomplice in the theft, was stopped and arrested in a second vehicle without incident.
