DENVER (AP) - The district attorney’s office Monday filed charges involving a police officer accused of hitting a teen-ager while responding to a call.
Bernard Montoya, 50, faces a felony charge of menacing and a misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault, district attorney spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough said.
Montoya is accused of getting into a traffic altercation March 6 while responding to a call. He was in an unmarked squad car.
The officer pointed his gun at the other driver, a teen-ager, before hitting him in the face with his hand, according to the charges.
Montoya was scheduled to appear in court Thursday to be formally advised of the charges.
