Rapid City, S.D. (AP) -- Law officers in Rapid City had another confrontation with an armed suspect, but they say the method they used to subdue the man may have saved his life.
Pennington County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call at about 4 a.m. Thursday. Justin Stevens, 21, tried to slip out the back door of the house, officials said.
Deputies said Stevens pulled out a gun and threatened them when they confronted him. They brought Stevens under control with a taser gun, which emits an electrical charge.
They arrested him for aggravated assault.
Last year, three men died in separate shootouts with Rapid City police officers, and two were critically injured in separate incidents in May.
