BALTIMORE — A Baltimore man who allegedly headbutted a federal police officer outside the Social Security Administration Field Office received an 18-month sentence Tuesday in federal court, followed by three years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Maryland.

U.S. District Judge Stephanie Gallagher sentenced White, 44, to 18 months in prison for assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal officers or employees.

The officer suffered a cut lip, bleeding and swelling from the May 19, 2025, incident, according to court documents cited by prosecutors.

An attorney listed as representing White in court records did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

White became upset while trying to access his Social Security benefits after losing his debit card, according to court documents. The SSA service representative trying to explain the process to receive a new card pressed a panic button, prompting security to respond and ask White to leave the building. Records allege that White spit on the security guard and threatened to attack him.

A federal law enforcement officer found White outside the building and attempted to arrest him, records show.

“White was still irate and physically resisted the law enforcement officer’s attempt to arrest him,” the U.S. Attorney said in a statement. “In response, the law enforcement officer pointed a taser at White and warned him that he would tase him if he continued resisting.

“White then allowed the law enforcement officer to place him in handcuffs,” the statement reads. “After the law enforcement officer, who was standing behind White, handcuffed him, White forcibly backwards headbutted the officer, causing a laceration to his lip, resulting in bleeding and swelling.”
