NEW YORK — New York state troopers shot and wounded an upstate man who charged at them with a bow and arrow early Friday, police said.

The troopers were responding to a domestic violence call on Yubadam Road in Portville — a western New York town just a few miles north of the Pennsylvania border — around 1:30 a.m.

They were confronted by Ryan Ehman, 40, who advanced towards them with a bow and arrow in his hand, said officials.

After Ehman ignored multiple commands to drop his weapon, troopers fired at him, striking him once.

Medics took Ehman to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.

Charges were pending Friday.
