TULSA, Okla. — Body-worn camera video shows the moment a citizen helped a Tulsa police officer stop a suspect they were pursuing.

According to police, officers working in the downtown area stopped a man and a woman to ask some questions. As the officer was questioning the man, who originally gave a false name, he took off running.

During a short foot pursuit, police said a citizen driving in the area stopped his pickup truck, jumped out and tackled the suspect on the sidewalk.

The officer was just a few steps behind and quickly took the suspect, identified as Miguel Hernandez, into custody.

Hernandez was arrested for resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony warrants for burglary, conspiracy, larceny and illegal firearm possession.

“We love our citizens and greatly appreciate all the support that we get from you, this was definitely a case of 110% support. Please put your own safety first before engaging with any nefarious characters,” police said in a Facebook post.
