BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Three New Jersey State Police troopers helped deliver a baby boy on the side of Interstate 287 in Bridgewater last month after the mom went into labor while en route to the hospital.

Trooper Michael Morreale received the delivery of the baby, Jack, on the side of a white SUV at about 2:39 a.m. on May 21 — about two minutes after the troopers arrived at the scene, officials said.

The other two troopers — Ryan Van Arsdale and Anthony Makhnin — repositioned the mom and Jack after the umbilical cord became briefly wrapped around the boy due to the position of the mother.

Emergency workers arrived and took both Jack and his mom to the hospital.

“Mom and baby Jack are doing great!” State Police said in a social media post. “Jack and mom are healthy and appreciative of the outstanding job by our Troopers.”
