GREEN BAY, Wis. – Ryan Rivard of Green Bay, who had a revoked driver’s license, was drunk and driving around 100 mph when his car smashed into Officer Tracy Liska’s squad car on Aug. 4, according to a criminal complaint. Liska had just pulled out into traffic when her car was struck by Rivard’s Cadillac.

Liska was unconscious, and a passerby was assisting her when police and rescue crew arrived. She has since been released from the hospital but suffered a broken rib, a punctured lung and a broken collarbone that required a titanium rod to repair, the complaint says. She also suffered deep bruising to both legs.

Rivard, who is 25, is facing five felony counts as well as two misdemeanor charges related to the crash. If convicted, he faces more than 40 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
