LUFKIN, Texas — Body cam video released by the Lufkin Police Department shows a man reaching for officers’ TASER and duty weapons before being shot Monday night.
Todd Sturgis, 26, was wanted for kidnapping and drug offenses and had been on the run from authorities since August, according to a statement.
Police found Sturgis at an apartment complex Monday evening after receiving a tip.
Body cam footage shows officers entering a room with TASERs drawn. Sturgis repeatedly ignores the officers’ commands and keeps his hands out of view.
“F--k you, b---h! You gonna have to kill me today, b---h!” Sturgis shouts before lunging for the officers’ weapons.

Sturgis was shot in the stomach and is expected to recover, according to the statement.
One officer sustained a minor fracture when a TASER barb sliced his finger.
Sturgis has been charged with resisting arrest and two counts of disarming a peace officer.
