AGUADILLA, Puerto Rico — A two-vehicle crash in the early hours of Dec. 24 left three people dead, including Agent José Ferrer Pabón, 44.

According to the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia, Pabón had just finished his shift with the Aguadilla Stolen Vehicles Division when he was struck by 18-year-old Eric Cruz. Cruz’s father, José Arreizaga Jordán, was also in the car; all three men died in the crash. According to police, Cruz was speeding when he lost control of the car.

Puerto Rico Police Commissioner Antonio López Figueroa mourned Pabón’s death.

“There are no words that can describe the pain represented by the loss of our colleague José Ferrer Pabón,” Figueroa wrote in Spanish on Twitter.
