DALLAS, Tex. — An undercover vice officer shot and killed a young man who along with several others tried to rob him during a prostitution sting, authorities said. The name of the dead man was not available late Saturday.

Two suspects had been arrested, and authorities were still looking for another suspect. According to police, the incident happened around 10 p.m. at the back of an apartment complex around Ferguson Road and Woodmeadow Parkway, near the Garland-Dallas border.

Details were still sketchy, but the undercover officer had reportedly met the men to make arrangements for him to buy the services of a prostitute, police said. As the deal was going down, the suspects apparently tried to rob the undercover officer and tried to take his car. The undercover officer fatally shot one of the suspects as he reached into his waistband as if he was going to pull out a gun, police said.
