TORRANCE — Police shot at a man wielding a chainsaw, NBC Los Angeles reported.
The incident began on the morning of April 12 when a man hired to do tree trimming started behaving erratically in a storage yard. He threw a rock at a car then did doughnuts in a truck.
He grabbed the chainsaw and was going to do more damage, a police report obtained by the news site said, when security guard called police.
When officers arrived, the man had crashed into another parked truck and officers opened fire.
The man was reportedly not hit but treated for minor injuries. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. He was also accused of trying to attack other employees.
