MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Dash cam video has been released capturing a violent escape attempt as police moved in to arrest a man suspected of manufacturing methamphetamine.

According to KXLY, Moses Lake police set up a drug buy through an informant September 5 in the parking lot of a strip mall when the incident occurred.

As unmarked and marked patrol cars approached the sedan driven by 36-year-old suspect Escamilla Mendoza, 16-year veteran Sgt. Brian Jones exited his vehicle to speak with the suspect.

Mendoza then put his vehicle in reverse — hitting two squad cars as Sgt. Jones fired two shots, one of which hit the suspect in his right side.

Mendoza again attempted to flee but quickly stopped and was arrested. He was transported to a local hospital, where he reportedly remains.

The suspect has been charged with possessing with intent to manufacture and deliver methamphetamine and attempted delivery of methamphetamine, according to the report. Police found 5.7 pounds of meth during a search of his home.

No one else was injured in the shooting.
