Unfortunately, law enforcement agencies have traditionally been hesitant to engage in this kind of self-analysis and information sharing

McKinney PD K-9 Azi was shot by a suspect who barricaded himself in a motel room; officers returned fire, fatally wounding him
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officer was shot in the foot before returning fire; the sheriff emphasized the suspect had multiple firearms and may have planned further violence
The man, who had been arrested and released earlier in the day, told Wayne police officers that he “would jump down from the balcony and stab them”
The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputy told the man to drop his weapon a total of 12 times before firing shots at him, the footage shows
Santa Ana officers pursued the man down the Newport Beach Pier and opened fire when he got out of the car while holding a pistol
After throwing both the bat and axe at officers in separate instances, the man charged at the Hamilton County deputies and appeared to reach for their service weapons
The man had reportedly held a gas station clerk at gunpoint before fleeing to a motel; when Greenville County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, he attempted to flee while carrying a gun
Detective Joseph Azcona, 25, was shot before he could even step out of his vehicle, said Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda
The second officer is hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said
Illinois State Police officers fired shots at the man, injuring him; after the injury, the officers were able to coax him out of the vehicle and render medical aid

A Navy veteran called 911 threatening violence before opening fire on responding San Antonio Police officers, stating he had “high-power rifles and everything”
