WASHINGTON — The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund released the roll call of names of 360 LEOs who have died in the line of duty and will be honored during an annual candlelight vigil.

The names of the fallen LEOs will be formally dedicated at the 30th annual Candlelight Vigil at the national mall in Washington, D.C. on May 13, according to an NLEOMF press release. Included in the list of names this year are the 129 LEOs who died in the line of duty in 2017 and 231 LEOs who were killed in previous years but had been forgotten until a team of researchers confirmed their record of LE service.

When the names of the 360 fallen LEOs are added, the NLEOMF will bear the names of 21,541 fallen officers who represent all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, federal law enforcement and military police agencies.

An estimated 30,000 people gather each year for the annual vigil, a signature event for National Police Week, when the fallen LEOs are formally dedicated.

“For the third year in a row, we will come together on the National Mall for an important occasion: to honor the brave lives we lost in the line of duty,” Craig W. Floyd, CEO of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, said. “A ceremony will never relieve the loss felt by these families, but we gather to show them that they are not alone. The 900,000 officers currently wearing the badge will carry on their responsibility and dedication of protecting our communities.”
