REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Theft victims can now check out the Redwood City Police Department’s website to see if their stolen items were recovered.
Through the Pinterest online bulletin board, police officers are uploading photos of recovered goods — primarily jewelry and bicycles — to the site.
Already, two burglary victims have spotted some of their missing jewelry on the site, police Lt. Sean Hart said. He added that Redwood City police also are uploading images of stolen property provided by other local law enforcement agencies.
For theft victims, going online to see pictures of stolen goods is easier and less time consuming than going to the police station, Hart said.
Victims who recognize stolen items will be asked to provide a police department case number verifying the theft and documentation such as a receipt proving ownership, Hart said.
