Shots fired at CHP officers; bullet hits patrol car

A two-officer patrol car stopped a vehicle when shots were fired in their direction

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Gunshots were fired in the direction of two CHP officers during a car stop late Thursday night on Highway 101, and one bullet hit the patrol vehicle, according to San Jose police.

A two officer patrol car stopped a vehicle on northbound 101 near Tully Road at 11:36 p.m. when shots were fired in their direction, according to San Jose police officer Albert Morales. One bullet hit the CHP car.

The officers were not injured.

The CHP and police shut down the freeway while officers conducted an investigation, Morales said.

Police have not identified any suspects.
