EAST POINT, Ga. — A woman who was arrested after posting a Facebook status that threatened officers’ lives claims she was being ironic, WSB TV reported.

Ebony Dickens was first arrested April 28 after her Facebook status called for “death to all white cops nationwide.” The status was posted by her Facebook alias, Tiffany Milan.

She also wrote: “I thought about shooting every white cop I see in the head until I’m either caught by the police or killed by them … Might kill at least 15 tomorrow, I’m plotting now.”

After Dickens’ post went viral, police became aware of the situation. The FBI, Homeland Security, New York Police Department and District Attorney’s office aided the East Point police department in Dickens’ arrest.

“That’s 15 people that she’s talking about killing within a day or so, so whether she is serious or not that’s something that we have to take seriously,” East Point police Lt. Cliff Chandler told the publication.

Dickens’ lawyer said the comments were taken out of context and were meant ironically, not literally.

“I, in my frustration and dismay, used this platform as an outlet for an ironical status to everyone how preposterous it sounds to target any group of people,” Dickens said to the publication.

Dickens was charged with disseminating information related to terrorist acts. She pleaded not guilty in court.

Investigations by local police and the FBI are ongoing.
