NEW YORK — The NYPD is monitoring a potential terror threat against East River bridges and tunnels linking Manhattan and Queens as the anniversary of 9/11 approaches, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Tuesday.

Further details were not immediately provided, but a source later descried the threat as “unspecified and uncorroborated.”

“They’re vague.”

Nonetheless, Tisch said police will ramp up security even more than it typically does as the city readies to mark the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attack Thursday.

“Out of an abundance of caution we are surging resources,” she said. “And you can expect to see an increase in police presence at critical infrastructure locations.”

Tisch made the announcement at One Police Plaza after discussing the search for a suspect in a Queens double murder.

“Based on threat reporting, which increases this time of year around the anniversary if 9/11, UN General Assembly and the Jewish high holidays, we are monitoring threats against critical infrastructure, including bridges and tunnels connecting Queens and Manhattan.”

It was not immediately clear if the threat was linked to a particularly country or terror group.
