NEW YORK — Body camera footage shows an officer-involved shooting of a man who stabbed two officers, the NYPD stated in a video release.
The incident occurred on Dec. 3, 2023, when Officer Edmond Decio and his partner, identified as Officer Gonzalez, responded to a 911 call of multiple people stabbed, according to the release.
Footage released on Jan. 31 shows officers arriving at the scene, where they found Courtney Gordon, 38, standing by an ambulance and began to ask him questions.
As they spoke to Gordon, he removed a knife from his pocket and began to stab the officers. Decio was stabbed in the neck and Gonzalez was stabbed in the temple, according to the release.
Decio then fired shots at Gordon, hitting him several times. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The officers were treated for their injuries.
The investigation later revealed that Gordon had also stabbed five of his family members, four of whom were killed.
