CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) -- A man faces a charge of aggravated assault for allegedly driving over a police officer’s leg.

Police were called to Little America Hotel and Resort after Gordon Hart, 26, allegedly refused to leave Wednesday night, according to Laramie County sheriff’s officials.

After officer Thomas Hood asked Hart to turn his engine off so he could talk to him, Hart allegedly put the Pontiac Grand Am in reverse, knocking Hood down and driving over his leg.

Hood suffered only soft-tissue injuries, around his ankle.

Hart later veered off a gravel road north of town, tore through a fence and rolled his car. He was slightly injured.

A deputy arrested him for suspected driving under the influence.
