INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A judge told an Indianapolis man Friday that he can never drive again and sentenced him to 14 years in prison for hitting an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer with his car.

During a traffic stop Jan. 24 on the Eastside, Scott A. Kiefner, 51, backed into officer Douglas Arnold’s leg, then fled. Arnold fired, injuring Kiefner’s eye.

Kiefner pleaded guilty April 27 in Marion Superior Court to battery, operating a vehicle while his license was suspended for life, and being a habitual offender.
