ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A prisoner awaiting sentencing for a shooting at a shopping mall escaped through a supply warehouse and remained at large early Monday, authorities said.
Raymond Terrone-Perez, 30, escaped from the Lehigh County Prison Sunday morning during a food delivery. Terrone-Perez worked in the prison kitchen but did not have clearance to be in the warehouse, Lehigh County Corrections Director Edward Sweeney said.
Police used a dog and a helicopter in their search, but were unable to find the fugitive.
Terrone-Perez was convicted last month of aggravated assault, conspiracy and reckless endangerment in the August 2001 shopping mall shooting. Authorities said the victim tried to pass off oregano as marijuana during a drug deal.
