PHOENIX — Authorities say they've arrested a man suspected of threatening to kill Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Sheriff's Detective Brian Mackiewicz said Thursday that 35-year-old Stephen Crow repeatedly called the Buckeye Police Department referring to Arpaio as a racist and Hitler. Mackiewicz said Crow also threatened to take over the county and kill Arpaio.
Mackiewicz says Crow has been jailed in Maricopa County Jail four times before on charges such as shoplifting and making threats.
Mackiewicz says he tracked Crow, a Tempe resident, to a Los Angeles hotel, where police arrested him on suspicion of making the threat.
He says Crow will face a felony charge in Los Angeles. Crow remains in the Los Angeles County Jail on $50,000 bail.
It wasn't immediately clear if Crow had an attorney.
