SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — An officer is bringing some Christmas cheer to kids in his community.
According to WCHS-8, Officer Tony Messer raised nearly $2,000 through his social media page to purchase 25 bikes as Christmas gifts for kids in need.
Messer started the page earlier this year during the pandemic as a way to keep connected to the community.
“I wanted to build some kind of community, and I never thought it would be what it is now. We want to humanize the badge,” Messer told WCHS. “I started the page and it just kind of took off.”
The bikes will be distributed throughout the week.
