MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke wrote himself a ticket after his car was parked in a disabled space, WTHR reported.
Clarke asked a captain to move his car upon arrival at a war memorial, but the order was not followed, according to a statement obtained by the news site.
The sheriff wrote himself a ticket, paid a $35 fine and made a donation to an organization that works with the disabled.
An internal investigation has also been ordered for the captain’s disobeyed command.
“The rules are the same for my squad car as any car except in an emergency or official business, but not in a handicap area,” Clarke’s statement said. “That is inexcusable.”
