YORK, Neb. — Three people tied to a multimillion-dollar beef and pork theft ring spanning six states and contributing to losses totaling $9 million were recently arrested in Florida.
According to 1011 Now, the York Police Department recovered a stolen semi-trailer in early September, but it was empty. A second theft was reported a short time later, but the truck was never recovered. The loss goods in these two thefts totaled $400,000.
After further investigation, the York PD discovered there were similar thefts of beef and pork products taking place across Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. The York officers began to work with other law enforcement entities to catch the thieves.
KSNB News reported several agencies were cooperating on the investigation, including Homeland Security Investigations-Omaha, the Florida Highway Patrol and Miami task forces. Officers were able to locate and arrest three individuals in the criminal enterprise this week, recovering three tractor-trailers with stolen items valued at $550,000.
The three people that were arrested were 38-year-old Yoslany Leyva Del Sol, 37-year-old Ledier Machin Andino, and 39-year-old Delvis L. Fuentes, all from the Miami, Florida, area.
