DETROIT — Authorities have locked down Detroit city hall and an adjacent county building while police search for a man who might have a gun.

Police Chief James Craig says there’s no “active shooter” or any specific threat, but that an image of what could be a gun was spotted after a bag passed through a security machine Monday.

Craig says police are looking for a white man in a dark suit.

Spokesman Dan Austin says Mayor Mike Duggan is not at city hall. The building is formally known as the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center.

City hall and a county building are connected with a common lobby. There are courtrooms and other public offices on the Wayne County side.
