Ohio police sergeant suffers medical emergency while driving to work

PARMA, Ohio — A longtime police officer has died after experiencing a medical emergency while on his way to work September 12.

Sgt. Nicholas Hunter joined the Parma Police Department in April 1993 and received a promotion to sergeant in November 2003, Cleveland 19 reported. He was his department’s most senior ranking sergeant and has been the recipient of numerous commendations throughout his career.

Hunter served in the Navy from 1984 to 1990 and graduated from the police academy in 1993.

“He was well-liked by his subordinate officers, as well as his peers and supervisors. Sgt. Hunter will be greatly missed by all,” the department wrote in a Facebook post.
