BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. — A man who phoned a county prison and made threats about harming himself apparently didn’t want any help, state police say.
When state troopers arrived at the Blair County home of the man, he was still on the phone with county prison officials threatening to harm himself.
There were several knives and scissors in “plain view” near the man, troopers say.
The man, identified as Brian Dick, 49, of Roaring Spring, Pa., is accused of resisting the troopers when they attempted to take him into custody to get him some help.
When one of the troopers grabbed Dick’s arm, he began to resist and “lifted his arms into a fighting stance,” state police said in a release.
During the ensuing struggle, one of the troopers was struck in the nose.
Dick now faces charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest, among others.
At last report, he was lodged at Blair County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 4.
