MIDDLE RIVER, Md. — Baltimore County police released surveillance video Monday of an officer shooting a man after a vehicle stop in Middle River last week.

The shooting happened about 2 a.m. Thursday at Old Eastern and Harrison avenues after an officer stopped a vehicle on suspicion of drug activity. The man who was shot was a passenger in the car who police said made a move toward his waistband that the officer believed was him pulling a weapon.

Police identified the officer involved as Officer Olszewski, a seven-year veteran of the department, was assigned to the Essex precinct. He has not been involved in any previous police shootings, according to the department.

Baltimore County police officers are identified by last name only, per an agreement with the county police union. County employment records list an officer named Jordan Olszewski.

A gun, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the car, police said. The surveillance video of the shooting was recorded from a nearby business, police said. Officials have not named the injured suspect, who remains in the hospital with charges pending, police said.

The driver of the car, Timothy Eric Dudeck, 29, of Middle River, who was not shot, faces drug- and gun-related charges. Police found suspected oxycodone pills, cocaine and $1,800 on him.

Dudeck was released on $100,000 bail. No attorney was listed for him in online court records.
