MILFORD, Pa. — Attorneys for a man charged with ambushing two troopers outside a Pennsylvania State Police barracks are in court arguing his statements to police should be thrown out.
Eric Frein (freen) is appearing at Tuesday morning’s hearing in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Frein is charged with opening fire outside the Blooming Grove barracks in 2014, killing Cpl. Bryon Dickson and seriously wounding Trooper Alex Douglass. The suspect led police on a tense 48-day manhunt before U.S. marshals caught him.
Court documents say Frein spoke of wanting to start a revolution and called Dickson’s slaying an “assassination” in a police interview after his capture. His attorneys are trying to get those statements suppressed.
They’re also challenging prosecutors’ plan to seek the death penalty.
