PARK FOREST, Ill. — A Park Forest officer wounded in a shooting last week was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury, ABC 7 reported.
Officer Tim Jones was shot three times in the neck and jaw on March 19 while responding to reports of a break-in, the department told the news site.
Police are asking for donations for medical costs on a GoFundMe page to help support Jones’ family.
Jones, 24, remains in critical condition. He has been with the department for less than a year and is the son of a police chief in another city.
The suspect who shot Jones, 21-year-old Thurman Reynolds, was killed in a shootout with officers.
