NEW YORK — Presidential hopeful Donald Trump released a video to his official Facebook page praising police officers for their work.

Trump stated law enforcement officers across the country are not being appreciated or given the respect they deserve.

“The fact is, they do an incredible job, we have to give them more authority and more respect,” he said in the video. “Without police, we wouldn’t be sitting here, we wouldn’t have the lives we have.”

He also said some “bad apples” and negative incidents covered by the media do not reflect law enforcement as a whole.

“It ends up in the news for two weeks, and everybody hates the police,” he said.
