COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police released video Tuesday that shows a shooting suspect speeding the wrong way down an interstate, apparently trying to hit cars before eventually crashing, then getting involved in a shootout with law-enforcement officers.

Andrew Teague, 43, died in the shootout Friday on Interstate 270, WCMH Channel 4 reports, after a pursuit that lasted more than an hour. Teague was wanted on a felonious assault warrant after being accused of shooting at his brother on Feb. 2.

WCMH reports Columbus police first started chasing Teague’s vehicle, but it was called off. A short time later, a Franklin County Sheriff’s Department deputy saw Teague’s vehicle stopped on the shoulder in I-270.

That began a second chase. After about an hour, Teague turned his vehicle around and began driving the wrong way on the interstate, WCMH reports. It’s estimated he reached speeds of 85 mph.

Police tell ABC 6 that Teague appeared to be aiming at other vehicles as he traveled the wrong way down I-270 for about three minutes. He eventually crashed into two vehicles, but still managed to get out of the vehicle afterward and began running along the shoulder of the highway.

A police officer and sheriff’s deputy arrived and began chasing Teague, reports say. Teague was fatally wounded during an exchange of gunfire, WCMH reports. A gun was found near Teague’s body, police say.

There were no serious injuries to the people involved in the crashes, ABC 12 reports.
