HUGHES SPRINGS, Texas — Several top cops have made headlines in their calls for citizens to arm themselves with firearms, KTBS reported.

Hughes Springs Police Chief Randy Kennedy strongly encouraged citizens to arm themselves.

“Be ready when the wolf comes to the door, because it’s on its way,” he said in a Facebook video.

Kennedy told citizens he isn’t asking them to be John Wayne, but wants them to be aware and informed.

“I’m asking them [citizens] to become familiar with a weapon, learn how it works, how it operates, what to do with it,” he said in the video.

A Florida sheriff also made headlines for his recent Facebook video asking for the “good guys” to shoot the “bad guys,” CBS News reported.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said in his video he was “sick and tired” of terrorists who just want “their 15 minutes of fame.”

“It’s time for America to get back to being America,” Ivey said in the video. “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! IT’S TIME TO SAY WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID TO PROTECT OUR CITIZENS!!

Ivey also asked citizens to learn how to properly use a firearm so they can take charge in an active shooter situation.

The posts came days after an upstate New York sheriff also urged citizens to carry guns.

“I urge you to responsibly take advantage of your legal right to carry a firearm,” Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum wrote on the department’s Facebook page.

All of the officers cited recent terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino as reasons behind their calls to action.
