NORWELL, Mass. — Fast action by police officers and firefighters helped save the life of a man who collapsed inside a store Sunday night, Norwell Police Chief Ted Ross said.

The Patriot Ledger reported that Special Police Officer Daniel Campanelli, who was working a traffic detail near the Hannaford’s supermarket on Washington Street shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday, was approached by someone reporting there was a medical emergency inside the store, Ross said.

Police officer Daniel Dooley had heard Campanelli’s radio call and headed to the store. Dooley is the department’s CPR and first aid instructor. Dooley brought the cruiser’s medical bag and defibrillator.
