QUEENSLAND, Australia — A Queensland couple has been refused bail, charged over a dramatic police chase and car-jacking in the Hunter Valley.
25-year-old Nathan Patton and 24-year-old Amanda Kim Collins both from Queensland are facing a string of charges including engaging in a police pursuit, armed robbery, as well as driving and firearm offences.
Patton, who appeared in court barefoot and wearing forensic overalls, allegedly led police on a 170 kilometre chase yesterday from the F3 Freeway on the Central Coast to Broke in the Hunter Valley.
Police have alleged Patton and Collins abandoned their first stolen car at Beresfield and used a pistol to car-jack a second vehicle.
At Maitland Local court this morning, bail was not applied for and it was formally refused by Magistrate Col Elliott.
The matter was adjourned to Newcastle Local Court in February next year.
