CARROLLTON, Ga. — Dash camera and body-worn camera footage were released of a 2021 incident where a man shot three officers with an AK-47. All three officers survived, but the suspect was convicted of murder after his actions led to the death of his cousin, according to a July report by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Aaron Shelton was found guilty in July of multiple counts of felony murder, aggravated assault on law enforcement officers, aggravated battery on law enforcement officers and other charges, according to the report.

During the 2021 incident, Shelton and his cousin, Pier Shelton, were pulled over for speeding. They stopped but quickly drove away as a trooper tried to approach the car.

In the dash camera video, the trooper who initiated the first traffic stop pursues the car and performs a PIT maneuver, but Aaron regains control of the car and continues to flee.

Pier can be seen firing an AK-47 out the passenger window as Aaron drives away. Footage from a helicopter and other dash camera videos show officers from other departments joining the pursuit.

The video transitions to show body camera footage from Carrollton Police Department Sgt. Rob Holloway, who gives instructions on how to approach the suspects. The video shows his cruiser crashing as he is shot in the head.

Once the suspect vehicle is stopped, dash and body camera footage show officers ducking behind squad cars to escape gunfire and running away when the gun-wielding suspect gets closer.

Holloway, Villa Rica officer Chase Gordy and Carroll County Deputy Jay Repetto were shot during the incident. All three survived, according to the report, but Holloway was forced to retire.
