FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Police Department has set its sights on the Super Bowl, ABC 11 reported.

The department filmed a video entitled “K-9 Cop Crunchies” for the “Doritos Crash the Super Bowl” contest.

The department wants to be one of three commercials chosen to play during the Super Bowl and win the $1,000,000 prize, Captain James Nolette told Police1 in an email. The remaining money would be divided between the police foundation and police benevolent fund.

“If we are fortunate enough to win the prize, half of the money would be donated back to the community as grants to local nonprofits for the betterment of the City of Fayetteville community,” Nolette said.

The department has been on a journey to change the perception of law enforcement within the local community, and the video is one way to connect with young adults,

Officers got the idea when they were considering a change to their departmental patch.

“Many have said that it is very plain and does not represent the agency or the community well, one citizen even stated that it looked like a Dorito and the idea was born,” Nolette said.

The video was completed by officers in two days and uploaded to the Doritos website. It was the 53rd most viewed video out of thousands of entries.
