MACEDONIA, Ohio — Macedonia police asked Facebook users to decipher a fake gun from a real one to raise awareness of the dangers of toy guns, WKYC reported.
Officers recovered a fake gun from a juvenile, posted a photo of it next to an officer’s firearm and asked users if they could make a split-second of which one was real.
“Now, imagine you respond to a call and someone is pointing that at you. How would you, as a law enforcement officer react?” police wrote on the post.
The fake gun was taken from a shoplifter on Nov. 27 and had no orange tip. The end of the toy gun’s barrel was average caliber size to mimic a real firearm, police told the news site.
Police have asked the community to think twice before purchasing one as a gift this holiday season.
