Survey: Responses from LEOs sought for study on stress amid civil unrest, COVID-19

The study will analyze current stress and mental health symptoms among police

Northern Illinois University researchers are seeking participants for a study on the impact of COVID-19 and current civil unrest on law enforcement officers’ stress and mental health in the United States.

Current and former officers are asked to complete an online survey that takes approximately 8–10 minutes. Responses are confidential and accessible only by the research team. The survey closes on August 17th.

Responses will help shed light on resilience among officers, as well as identify areas that may be targeted for continued prevention and intervention efforts.

Dr. Michelle Lilly is an associate professor at NIU who has conducted both research and clinical work for first responders over the past decade. She can be contacted with questions regarding the study at mlilly1@niu.edu. The research team plans to share results in the weeks after the survey closes.
