OGDEN, Utah – An officer was killed in a shootout Thursday.

“A fine young officer with just 15 months on the job was killed,” said Ogden Police Chief Randy Watt during a press conference.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, police originally responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at a residence. Officers approached a man on the porch of the home who was uncooperative and shut himself inside the house. That’s when gunfire erupted through the closed front door.

In addition to the officer who was fatally struck by gunfire, a second officer with Adult Probation and Parole also suffered injuries during the incident.

A SWAT team was later called to the scene. The suspect was found dead.

The identity of the fallen officer has not been released and the investigation is ongoing.
