‘Stunned and heartbroken’: La. sheriff's office mourns sudden passing of well-liked deputy

RAPIDES PARISH, La. — Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office is in mourning after the sudden passing of Deputy LaTusha Trusty due to a medical incident while at work.  

Deputy Trusty had been with the sheriff's office for several years, starting as a Shift Communications Officer. She was known for her dedication, knowledge and eagerness to pass on her experience to others, KALB reported. 

Due to her exceptional work ethic, Deputy Trusty was promoted to the position of Administrative Assistant to the Uniform/Patrol Division Major and Captain. She was highly respected by her colleagues and was described as someone who always approached her work with positivity and kindness. 

Rapides Parish Sheriff Mark Wood expressed his shock and sadness over Deputy Trusty's death. He said, "We are stunned and heartbroken by the loss of LaTusha. She was a valuable member of our team who always went above and beyond in her duties. She will be greatly missed by all who worked with her and knew her." 

The sheriff's office has not provided further details about the medical incident that led to Deputy Trusty's passing. The community has expressed its condolences to the family and colleagues of Deputy Trusty during this difficult time.
