CINCINNATI — Police dash-camera video that’s been released from June fatal shootings of a Cincinnati police officer and armed suspect show the suspect advancing toward another officer with his gun pointed.
Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters played a only a brief clip at a news conference Wednesday in which he announced there would be no charges against officer Tom Sandmann. He released a 50-minute raw video from Sandmann’s cruiser.
The video shows 21-year-old Trepierre Hummons standing near fatally wounded officer Sonny Kim. He turns toward the cruiser after it arrives and advances with gun raised. The video shows Hummons’ hands fly upward; then he appears to turn back toward Sandmann just before disappearing from view.
Hummons’ mother tells a Cincinnati Enquirer reporter that Deters’ version of events wasn’t accurate before she declined further comment.
