This week’s photo comes from Sgt. Chris Iversen of the Ocean Shores Police Department in Washington state.
In the photo, a military surplus Humvee patrols the town’s six miles of sandy beach.
“This vehicle can go where our regular patrol vehicles cannot without getting stuck in the sand,” Iversen explained. “It was primarily used by our Surf Rescue team to deliver personnel and watercraft during beach rescues. We no longer have such a team due to budget cuts, so the vehicle is now used for beach patrol during busy events.”
