SHOT Show 2016: Looking for a new off-duty carry gun? Walther has released an even slimmer PPS

A company representative said the trigger pull is just over six pounds, and in surreptitiously dry firing it, I judged the break to be super solid and the sear reset smooth

On the trade show floor at SHOT Show 2016, we discovered a newly redesigned — and even slimmer — PPS from Walther. The new design is almost identical to its predecessor but for two noticeable changes. The gun now features a push button magazine release (as opposed to the paddle style which is more popular in Europe) and they have found a way to shave off even more width, getting the gun in at just one inch wide.

Walther successfully made the gun sleeker but still retained their superior grip design. The gun feels like part of your hand when you hold it, and upon seeing it on the show floor I was disappointed I did not have time during Media Day at the Range to shoot it. A company representative said the trigger pull is just over six pounds, and in surreptitiously dry firing it, I judged the break to be super solid and the sear reset smooth.

The PPS M2 will be available in 6+1 and 7+1 (pictured above is the 7+1, which fits the hand much, much better, and is well worth the extra girth). It is currently chambered in 9mm and the company will have a .40 S&W version sometime around June of this year. In addition to giving the gun a slick look, the Tennifer coating will surely help to prevent corrosion.

Those with an affinity for a single-stack (and super slim) off-duty carry gun (or BUG) should consider checking out the newly redesigned Walther PPS M2. It will reportedly set you back just under $500.
