SAGINAW, Mich. – Dash cam video shows an officer getting hit by a police bullet during the fatal shooting of a suspect who attempted to escape custody.
According to MLive, the video was released Wednesday after both officers involved in the incident were cleared of any wrongdoing.
On July 19, an officer arrested Farhad Jabbari on suspicion of being intoxicated. After Jabbari was placed in the backseat of a patrol car, the officer noticed the suspect was attempting to get out of his handcuffs.
Jabbari managed to free one of his hands. A struggle ensued when the officer entered the rear-driver’s side door in an attempt to stop Jabbari. The suspect was gouging at the officer’s eyes when a second LEO came to assist from the rear passenger-side of the car.
The second officer wrestled with Jabbari for a few seconds before shots were fired, striking the officer and the suspect.
The officer was shot in the arm and treated at a hospital. Jabbari died at the scene. The other officer was also treated for injuries and released.
