BALTIMORE — St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s officers are searching for a 39-year-old man after recovering 80 firearms in connection with a call for a domestic assault last Thursday.

The suspect left the scene before authorities arrived, according to a Friday news release from the sheriff’s office. On Friday, officers turned up an “extensive collection of weapons” after executing search warrants on the residence and vehicles on the 20000 block of Goddard Road in Lexington Park, where a domestic assault had been reported the day before, the release says.

The collection included guns of all sizes, including handguns, an AK-47, semiautomatic rifles and 3D-printed “ghost guns,” according to the release. Officers also found 3D printers, gun manufacturing equipment, large-capacity magazines and gun modification components, in addition to over 1,300 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect, who is prohibited from having a gun due to prior convictions dating back to 2007, is also wanted for theft. The release states detectives applied to press charges on him related to the weapons stockpile, but the Maryland Judiciary’s website currently shows only a charge of second-degree assault stemming from the Nov. 7 incident.

Detective David Lawrence is the lead investigator. He can be reached at 301-475-4200 or at david.lawrence@stmaryscountymd.gov.
