LOS ANGELES — A violent scuffle on a sidewalk between an LAPD officer and a motorist was captured on cellphone camera.
KTLA reports the Tuesday altercation began as the officer attempted to detain a driver who walked away after being pulled over from reports of a ‘residential disturbance’ allegedly involving the driver.
The man became aggressive and punched the officer multiple times in the face.
The video begins shortly after the initial attack on the officer.
Witnesses told KTLA they heard the man say he was going to kill the officer in the midst of the struggle.
The man was taken into custody after backup arrived on the scene. He faces charges of battery on a police officer and making threats, according to the report.
The officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released from the hospital.
